Nineteen-year-old Nuggets rookie Quincy Miller is new to the NBA, having been selected by the Nuggets in the second round of June’s NBA draft after leaving Baylor following his freshman campaign. Being so young and playing with the elite of the elite, the Chicago native will have plenty of exciting challenges ahead of him this season as he works to try and make – and stick – on George Karl’s Nuggets squad this year. So each week for the rest of the season, Miller will chime in with his thoughts, ups, downs and insights about his rookie year exclusively here at milehighsports.com.
Thanks for checking back in, everyone! I’m so ready for the season to start tomorrow in Philly, and glad you’ll all be on board for the season. I know a lot of the veterans complain about how long the preseason is, but for me, it can’t go long enough. As a rookie, I’ve got so much to learn, and there’s no better time than the preseason to do it all. I don’t mind the length at all, bring it!
But I’m obviously pumped for the season to start, either. I’m working on my three-ball a lot in practice right now, I have to get more consistent with my threes. I shot around 40 percent from three in college, but I could’ve been better, if I worked on it more. And I’m trying to put in that work now after practice.
Speaking of college, I’m going to watch every Baylor game this year (where I played my college ball last year). I love Baylor. I went back for a football game earlier this year already, and I’ll be back plenty more times. Go Bears!
I got my mohawk cut this week. It was about time. I went with the buzz-cut, and it feels good. It’s a new-season cut.
Amongst current NBAers, my favorites are K.G. (Kevin Garnett), Tracy McGrady and LeBron James. I’m excited to get to meet them this year!
I’m not worried, but I am scared of flying. We’re flying out today to Philadelphia, and I’m hearing about this hurricane and super storm on the East Coast – I’m thinking about everyone out there, it looked really bad on TV. I went through a nasty thunderstorm on a plane back with Baylor, and it was spooky. I’ll probably stay still on the plane.
Thanks for reading again, talk to you next week! Go Nuggets!
