It is a bittersweet Halloween for the Colorado Avalanche, and not because of some bad candy.
Without a new collective bargaining agreement in sight, it appears that Avs players will have to continue to play away from Colorado.
“Happy Halloween! Woulda been great to have spent it in Denver though #missingCO” tweeted Avalanche center Matt Duchene, who is currently playing in Sweden.
Last week, the league announced all games through November are cancelled, and ESPN reported Wednesday that the league is expected to cancel the Winter Classic on Thursday.
That would mean that there will be no hockey through Jan. 1.
For the Avs, this Halloween has been much more of a trick than a treat.
