The Rockies most likely have their guy, but which one will it be. It’s a classic case of ‘whobeit?’, a rip off of the more mainstream version ‘whodunit?’.
And if the Rockies are anything, it’s not mainstream.
So as the tale of finding a manager continues, team owner Dick Monfort, general manager Dan O’Dowd and assistant GM Bill Geivett will meet later this week to decide which of the six candidates they’ve interviewed will be the team’s manager in 2013.
Will it be bench coach Tom Runnells, the fun-loving Jason Giambi, the former shortstop and current high school coach Walt Weiss, former manager Jerry Manuel, former Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin or current Diamondbacks bench coach Matt Williams.
The Rockies have also shown interest in San Francisco Giants bench coach Ron Wotus, but no interview is scheduled.
Out of the six that have been interviewed, who would you choose? Would you go with an experienced guy like Manuel or a shot in the dark with Giambi?
