The month of November began with a shakeup of the Cutthroats’ roster.
Former-Avalanche 2008 draft pick, defensemen Joel Chouinard, and former University of Denver forward Gabe Gauthier were both added to the Cutthroats’ lineup Thursday, the team’s website reported.
Chouinard was assigned from the team’s AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, while Gauthier signed as a free agent.
“Teams at any level always look to improve their roster as the season progresses,” Cutthroats head coach Derek Armstrong said. “We’ve picked up a young, productive defenseman that was drafted by the Avalanche and can help us on the blue line, plus we’ve added a veteran forward with AHL experience and a connection to the Denver area.”
Gauthier scored two goals and had eight assists playing for the Augsburger Panthers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany last year.
Chouinard had no goals and 10 assists for the Monsters in 53 games last year.
To make room for the two new players, the Cutthroats waived forward Tony Mosey and traded Steve Makway to the Bloomington Blaze for future considerations.
