The Colorado Avalanche’s season will not be thawing to a resolution anytime soon.
The NHL cancelled the Winter Classic Friday, ESPN reported. The game would have featured a matchup between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leaves on Jan. 1.
As well as being a strong tradition, the annual outdoor game brings in significant revenue to the league. And a cancellation of this magnitude certainly will not bring good news to the Avs season.
Although the NHL’s recent cancellation does not necessarily mean that there will not be a season, however, six weeks into the season and it looks more and more like a possibility.
According to ESPN, both sides have not met face-to-face or exchanged proposals in the past two weeks..
So as of now, the cold Colorado winter will have nothing to do with Avalanche.
