Two guys with no MLB managerial experience have a lot of hope in landing the Rockies’ top job.
Friday, Walt Weiss and Jason Giambi, who’ve never been big league managers, were scheduled to meet with owner Dick Monfort, general manager Dan O’Dowd and assistant GM Bill Geivett in the next step of the interview process.
Former Rockies shortstop Weiss, who is currently the manager of Regis Jesuit, was pictured with Geivett early this morning by the team’s site. And Giambi followed him up with an interview of his own.
Along with these two, Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams and Rockies bench coach Tom Runnells are in the hunt.
Runnells had a meeting with the Rockies’ brass several weeks ago, while Williams is in limbo as he’s a candidate for the open Blue Jays job as well.
