In Saturday night’s 119-116 loss to the Miami Heat, the Nuggets played their best basketball of the early season. But the results were just the same for George Karl’s squad.
Through three games, the baby blues are 0-3, and one player in particular seems to be starting to worry a little bit. On Sunday afternoon, Nuggets center JaVale McGee took to Twitter to express some early concerns about his team. In only his fourth tweet in 28 days, McGee said on Sunday “WE GOTTA GET BACK TO PLAYOFF BALL! SOONER THEN LATER!” McGee rarely comments on on-court matters, and this tweet may indicate a little early unsettlement over at the Pepsi Center.
With high expectations coming into this year, the Nuggets have looked sluggish at best in starting 0-3, although they looked much improved in Saturday’s loss to Miami. But turnovers doomed the baby blues to losses to the Magic on Friday and the 76ers in their opener last Wednesday.
But not everybody’s as alarmed as McGee. Kenneth Faried, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to be pushing the panic button quite yet. In a tweet shortly after the Nuggets’ loss in Miami on Saturday night, the second-year power forward said the Nuggets are getting better and are starting to find one another.
Whatever the sentiment of the Nuggets, one thing is clear: a win in their home opener on Tuesday against the Pistons is of the essence.
