The Nuggets are just underway, the Broncos are 5-3 at the season’s halfway point, and maybe, just maybe, the Colorado Avalanche could be skating at an arena near you sooner than you think.
Adrian Dater of the Denver Post tweeted on Sunday that he heard real progress was made between the NHL’s players and owners in talks on Saturday, the first discussions between the two sides in two weeks. Nothing is imminent, it sounds like, but maybe the two sides are inching towards an agreement that would save the full year from being locked out.
The NHL just cancelled its annual Winter Classic earlier this week.
As Dater notes, however, it’s still a long ways to go until a deal is struck. But with progress sounding like its being made, it might not be too long until the Pepsi Center is busy with both hockey and hardwood sometime soon.
