ENGLEWOOD – Chris Kuper was back at practice Wednesday, but Elvis Dumervil was not as the Broncos began preparations for the Chargers.
Dumervil strained his left shoulder in the first quarter Sunday at Carolina and sat out most of the final three quarters after a brief attempt to return. That is the same shoulder that he injured in Week 1 of the 2011 season against Oakland; he was limited to pass-rush downs in the series after suffering that injury, but was ineffective and was deactivated the next two games so the injury could heal.
Kuper missed all of last week’s work after spraining his left ankle at Cincinnati Nov. 4. That is the same ankle in which he tore ligaments Jan. 1. Kuper was seen on crutches in the locker room Nov. 5, but was walking around in a boot two days later.
Cornerback Tracy Porter did not open practice with his teammates, but was seen doing conditioning work with a team strength coach. He hasn’t played since Oct. 7 and has practiced on an intermittent basis in the last month.
