Ryan O’Byrne is the latest Avalanche player to sign elsewhere in the midst of the NHL lockout.
The defenseman has agreed to terms with the Florida Everblades, according to Adrian Dater of the Denver Post.
“Avs’ Ryan O’Byrne has signed with … Florida of the East Coast Hockey League. His agent, Matt Keator, said his client wants the structure of a team situation as we all wait out this owner lockout” Dater tweeted on Thursday.
The Florida Everblades are currently in fourth place of the South division of the Eastern Conference in the ECHL, 11 points behind the Gwinnett Gladiators.
O’Byrne has been a member of the Avalanche since being traded to Colorado from Montreal in November of 2010.
The NHL and NHLPA are currently working with mediation; however there is still no estimated return date for play to resume.
