Rockies targeting pitchers as winter meetings start

Schlereth is coming back to play in Denver.

No it’s not former Bronco Mark Schlereth, but his son Daniel Schlereth.

According to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding, the Colorado Rockies are considering bringing in the local product.

Daniel Schlereth played at Highlands Ranch High School before playing at UNLV and Arizona in college.

In four seasons in the majors, Schlereth is 5-6 with a 4.35 ERA playing with the Arizona Diamondbacks and most recently with the Detroit Tigers.

After trading away Matt Reynolds to the Diamondbacks for infielder Ryan Wheeler last month, the Rockies are in need of another left-hander in their bullpen, making Schlereth a viable option.

Other non-tendered starters that the Rockies are reportedly interested in include lefty Tom Gorzelanny of the Nationals and Jair Jurrjens of the Braves.
