Two months after being fired as the head football coach of the CU Buffs, Jon Embree has found work. Embree is back in the NFL as tight ends coach for the Cleveland Browns, according to a report from The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Embree spent two seasons as head coach of the Buffaloes before being fired after the team went 1-11 in 2012. The move sparked a controversial debate in which former Buff head coach Bill McCartney cited racism as part Embree’s firing.
Embree is no newcomer to the NFL. Before his time as CU’s head man, he was the tight ends coach for the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before he broke into the NFL coaching ranks, Embree was a longtime assistant at UCLA and his alma mater, CU.
Embree joins a brand new staff headed up by new head coach Rob Chudzinski and offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
