Charlie Blackmon continued his hot play at the plate, smacking his eighth home run in seven games, and D.J. LeMahieu tied a career high for hits, but it was not enough as the Rockies fell to the Nationals 5-4 at Coors Field on Monday.

Charlie Blackmons solo shot in the fourth inning gave the Rockies a 4-2 advantage, but a Daniel Murphy RBI single in the fifth and a Wilson Ramos solo home run tied things up in the sixth. Washington added another run in the seventh on a Bryce Harper double.

Colorado had a chance with two on and one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Nolan Arenado grounded into an inning-ending double play. Arenado was 0-for-3 with a walk on the night.

Blackmon had a chance to tie things in the ninth against Golden High School graduate Mark Melanon.

Blackmon took an aggressive approach, but grounded out softly to second base.

The Rockies have now lost eight of their last nine games. They face the Nationals on Tuesday in the second game of the three-game series.
