With a $30 million contract ($20 million guaranteed) you’d think Denver Broncos defensive end Demarcus Ware might have a little extra to spend on gratuity now and then. But maybe not.

Ware was in the Washington D.C. over the weekend as one of several NFL players to participate in the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll, when a waiter confronted him with the standard “Go Skins” greeting that locals are accustomed to.

It apparently struck a chord with Ware, who spent nine seasons playing for the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys. In response, he offered the waiter this tip:

#ThingsWaitersDontDo 1) Pre-judge 2) Assume 3) Assume u gonna get a tip after you say “Go Skins” pic.twitter.com/mmbHQisdws

It was later revealed to be a late April Fool’s Day joke by Ware:

To everyone concerned about my last tweet – I was having fun with a fan. I did in fact tip …I have a sense of humor and so did he.

Kudos to Demarcus Ware for making the waiter and the rest of us look foolish. After all, it’s not the first time he’s faked someone out.
