On Wednesday, Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders was giving back to area children, partnering with the Boys & Girls Club for a pizza party before taking 100 children and parents to a special premiere of King Arthur.

Sanders also took a minute to discuss some of the youngsters that the Broncos brought in; providing an evaluation of some members of the team’s draft class. Overall, he really likes the class, but some stood out more than others.

“I like that kid [wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie]. I like the lineman [tackle Garett Bolles], and I like [tight end Jake] Butt, for sure,” Sanders said. “That was awesome.”

Growing up in Texas, Sanders also knows a little about new Broncos running back Jamaal Charles from his youth.

“I actually played in the Texas High School All-Star football game with Jamaal Charles,” Sanders said. “It’s kind of cool to go back and see him. He’s from Texas, too. It was pretty cool.”

So what does Sanders think the Broncos’ new offensive weapon? Well, aside from “juice” and the ability to be a “home run hitter,” one thing stood out.

“Competition. I remember three years ago, a coach always used to say, ‘Keep the room hot, keep the room hot.’ I used to watch him and he used to say that to the media all the time. ‘Keep the room hot.’ I finally walked up to him and I asked, ‘What do you mean by keep the room hot?’ He said, ‘The more and the better the athletes are, the hotter the room is. The less comfortable guys are in terms of getting comfortable because there are no other guys in the room that can compete with him.’ But when you put competition in the room with him, it brings out the best out of everybody.”
