Tuesday kicked off the second week of OTAs for the Denver Broncos. Although it is still May, there are many storylines that are developing and plenty to follow up on. Here are five noteworthy pieces that developed on Tuesday:

Mark Sanchez a full go at practice

After having surgery on his finger over a week ago, Sanchez was a full participant at practice during OTAs on Tuesday. Last week, Sanchez couldn’t go under center and was limited due to the injury. Now it truly looks like a full on competition at quarterback.

Brandon Marshall still limited in practice, but working in drills

Since Danny Trevathan departed to Chicago in free agency, Marshall will be leaned on even more this year. Recovering from a procedure this offseason, Marshall isn’t participating in team activities, but is participating in drills and showing full mobility. This is great news to the middle linebacker group.

Kubiak said he fully expects Marshall and Virgin Green to be ready come training camp.

Jeff Heuerman has a sore hamstring, very limited today

This news comes as very concerning for the second year player. After not making it past rookie mini camps last year due to a torn ACL, there are definitely questions about his health. Kubiak said he was impressed with his play last week, and that this setback is disappointing.

DeMarcus Ware back still bothering him

Ware’s back injury was bothering him again this week after holding him out of OTAs last week. Kubiak said there is no need to rush him, especially since it is May. He also said he hopes to have him active for a few OTAs, but that isn’t a top priority.

His absence on the filed along with Von Millers absence from OTAs is allowing plenty of first-team reps for Shaquile Barrett and Shane Ray.

No timetable for quarterback competition

Kubiak said that they all will get an opportunity to go with the first team. He also said that he is not worried that this will negatively impact the chemistry with the other players on offense, but instead make everyone better.

As far as when we will know about the quarterback competition Kubiak blatantly said, “I don’t have a timeline on anything.”
