The University of Colorado had a second cornerback drafted Friday night when the San Francisco 49ers selected Ahkello Witherspoon 66th overall. Just six picks earlier, his Buffaloes teammate Chidobe Awuzie was selected by the Dallas Cowboys.

Witherspoon played for three years in Boulder and had 71 total tackles in his career. He picked off three passes in his time at CU, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. The hallmark play of his career was an end zone interception that helped seal a victory at Oregon in 2016.

The Broncos will face Witherspoon on the road in the preseason on August 19, but don’t face the 49ers during the regular season. Witherspoon will see plenty of Denver faces during the preseason, as the Broncos will travel to practice for a few days with the 49ers ahead of their matchup.
