The Colorado Rockies have placed closer Jake McGee on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right knee and promoted Tyler Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque, according to Thomas Harding.

McGee injured the knee during his blown outing against the San Diego Padres Friday night.

McGee had a record of 0-2 with an ERA of 4.98 prior to the injury. His 15 saves this season were tied for the 12th most among closers this year.

Anderson was the first-round draft choice of the Rockies in 2011. His progress towards the big leagues was slowed due to constant injury and inconsistent performance; however, the time has now come for Anderson to get a crack at the pros.

Carlos Estevez and Jason Motte are candidates to replace McGee as he recovers.
