What a turnaround.

Despite starting his career 0-17 from the field, Jamal Murray showed so much in the last three weeks that he was awarded the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in October and November.

The seventh overall pick, Murray is averaging 10.4 points (2nd amongst rookies), 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while shooting 41.6 percent from behind the arc and 81.8 percent at the free throw line. His 32 made threes are 10 more than the next closest rookie.

Already, Murray has two games in which he has drained five three pointers, and he’s connected on multiple threes in 10 games.

And when he scored 12 points in 27 seconds in Portland, he became the first player in 20 years to score 12+ points in 30 seconds, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Murray is now the fourth Nugget to earn a NBA Rookie of the Month award, joining Dikembe Mutombo (twice), Carmelo Anthony (six times) and Kenneth Faried (once).

If he continues on this pace, there might be quite a few more Rookie of the Month awards in Murray’s future.
