The Denver Broncos named their starting quarterback yesterday, but that doesn’t mean his competition has given up the fight.

No, we’re not talking about Mark Sanchez. We’re talking about Brandon McManus.

McManus has been vying for the Broncos starting quarterback job for months — ever since Peyton Manning retired, really — and it’s safe to say that he never really was given a fair chance.

He temporarily suspended his bid for the starting job when the Broncos selected Paxton Lynch in the first round of the NFL draft, but apparently he never let his dream die entirely.

And while we’re not saying he had anything to do with Sanchez’s gameday photo being swapped out with his own, we’re not saying he didn’t, either.

Unfortunately, his chances of becoming the starting quarterback of the reigning Super Bowl champs seem as slim now as they ever have, but there’s a silver lining: If the Broncos do part ways with Sanchez in the next week, they’ll be in need of an emergency third-string passer.
