Broncos fans are really hoping the Los Angeles Chargers are as bad at football this year as their social media team is at math.

On Thursday the Chargers posted a picture to Twitter touting their longtime duo of quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Antonio Gates. Everyone in the AFC West knows their numbers well, 17 and 85.

So it was a bit of a head scratcher when the Chargers used their numbers to play up a popular social media emoji.

The ? emjoi, according to emojipedia, originates “from the number 100 written on a school exam or paper to indicate a perfect score of 100 out of 100.”

Unfortunately for the Chargers, 17 plus 85 equals 102. Needless to say, they caught some heat for the post.

The Chargers responded, as the 100 emoji is commonly used as a shorthand for 100%, with the usage meaning “keep it real” or a similar sentiment. A 100 emoji can be used to express pride or general acceptance of an idea.

Still, fans weren’t buying it. And they kept piling on.
