When Sports Illustrated’s post-Super Bowl 50 issue releases this week, it will be Von Miller, not Peyton Manning, who will grace the cover.

And while Miller absolutely deserves to be SI’s cover athlete, it would not have been a shocker if they had decided to commemorate Peyton Manning one last time. This, though, just goes to show how impressive and impactful Miller and the Denver defense were throughout the Broncos’ playoff run.

According to Pro Football focus, Miller had six sacks and 16 total quarterback pressures in the Denver Broncos’ final two games. DeMarcus Ware wasn’t too far behind, with three sacks and 18 total quarterback pressures.

It’s not all that often that you can say two pass rushers single-handedly won a game for a team, let alone the Super Bowl, but that’s exactly what Miller and Ware did this postseason.

And with this cover, as well as the Lombardi Trophy and all those championship rings, the city of Denver won’t soon forget.
