The NBA Slam Dunk contest has been a staple during All-Star weekend for decades. The contest singles out the part of the game that everyone loves, and puts on a show for all.

The NBA has yet to announce who will compete in this year’s competition; however, one Denver Nugget is making his case to have his name entered into the contest.

Will “The Thrill” Barton has shown his skills all year long, and he has made a firm case as to why he should be selected to the All-Star festivity.

The 25 year old revived his career in the Mile High City and has given fans their money’s worth more times than not this season.

Barton has showed off his athleticism and skills all season long. Now, the ball is in the court of the NBA to put The Thrill into the contest.

Reports confirm that the leauge is considering adding Barton to this years contest:

Barton brings insane hops and humbled swagger to the game of basketball.

Not only can Barton do insane tricks in the air, but he can also elevate above his opponents.

When Barton gets a clear lane you can expect big things.

Barton told The Denver Post’s Chris Dempsey he would participate in the contest if asked.

“I mean, if they asked me, I would do it, It’s just how I feel about it. But I don’t have too many feelings about it.” Barton said “It’s a great atmosphere, If they ask me, fine. If they don’t, that’s fine, too.”

Will The Thrill has never competed in the dunk contest, but he would be able to bring some freshness to the table, with the expectation that last years winner, Zach LaVine, will compete once again.

The high-flying basketball player has been a dying breed in the NBA; however, Barton has the skill set to revive the excitement of the dunk contest.

Barton has the opportunity to put himself, and his team, on the map.

The Nuggets do not have a flashy player on their roster aside from Barton, so the Thrill has a chance to give his team a face that fans of the game can remember.
