As I sat in my seat on press row just minutes before the game, I noticed something was wrong. The Pepsi Center was as dead as I had ever seen it.

I asked myself, why is this happening?

Ticket prices? Bad team? No interest?

I couldn’t put my finger on it, and still cannot at the moment.

Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, but yet the Nuggets still manage to rank dead last in home attendance.

Take a look at what Wednesday night’s game looked like moments before tipoff.

Absolutely pitiful.

The popularity of the sport mixed with the booming population in Denver did not add up, so I opted to take to the Twittersphere and run a poll, asking my followers why are Nuggets games so empty?

Check out the results:

So, according to the 130 people that voted, 42 percent said that it’s due to no interest in the team, which is dumbfounding, in my opinion. There are so many different storylines that come out of this team on a daily basis. They are young, trending upwards, have a plethora of trade assets and are in the process of laying out what they hope to be the next golden era of Nuggets basketball.

Look at the Golden State Warriors, for instance. Where did Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all come from?

The draft.

Where did Emmanuel Mudiay, Jusuf Nurkic, Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic and Juancho Hernangomez all come from?

The draft.

Now, I’m not saying any of these guys will be like the boys in the Bay, but the Nuggets have done a superb job at reeling in talent for the future.

I know they don’t have Joel Embiid on this team, but to all people living in and around the Denver area, you need to trust “The Process.”  In order to build a team that will contend for years and years, it takes awhile, and at this point in time, the Nuggets are moving along that plan.

No interest? That does not make sense.

Take a look at what’s in front of you, because there are a lot of interesting things happening with this team, and this franchise is on track to become a very solid unit here in the near future.

Sure, they may be losing now, but get out to a couple of games a season and take a look at the bright future that the Denver Nuggets possess.
