The Colorado Rapids captured a big win against Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, which held their spot atop the Supporters’ Shield standings.

With this win, the Rapids extended their win streak to eight games. The Rapids are 8-2-3 so far in the 2016 campaign.

Seattle’s home pitch (Century Link Field) is one of the toughest places to play in the MLS.

“To got there and shut them out in front of that crowd was incredible,” said Darren Copeland, who was filling in for Marcelo Balboa on From the Pitch.

The Rapids handled the pressure like a veteran group and are looking like a strong candidate to take the title. The Rapids last won the MLS Cup in 2010.

FROM THE PITCH LIVE STREAMRapids goalkeeper Zach MacMath was a brick wall denying the Sounders of all chances.

The Sounders dominated the first half, putting pressure on MacMath and the Rapids’ defense. But Axel Sjöberg would find his way pass the Sounders to head in a goal that would push the Rapids ahead going into the second half.

The Sounders would again come out hot, keeping the ball in their territory for most of the half, but once again the Rapids defense would deny the Sounders of any chance at tying the game.

The Rapids will be back at Dick Sporting Goods Park this Saturday to face off against the Philadelphia Union in their next match.

Copeland talked about the game and other hot Rapids topics. Listen to the full conversation below …
