Von Miller isn’t the only Broncos player looking to get locked up long term; Emmanuel Sanders is looking to get paid, too.

In fact, reports are that Sanders is looking to get paid like a top-10 wide receiver in the NFL, and if you’re just going off the stats, he probably deserves it. As we’ve seen with Miller, though, Elway doesn’t always subscribe to giving people what they “deserve.”

And according to Mike Klis of 9News, the Broncos aren’t rushing to get Sanders’ deal done, either.

“Contract talks with Sanders, by the way, have been put on hold. Not off, but on hold,” Klis wrote on Wednesday. “He is scheduled to make $5.6 million in the final year of his contract this season.”

Maybe this is because the Broncos are shifting their focus to Miller in this final week before the deadline for long-term extensions, or maybe it’s because Elway wants Sanders to prove himself one more time before he pays another wide receiver $10-plus million a year.

Either way, somebody will pay Sanders a lot of money. Whether that’ll be the Denver Broncos, we’ll see.
