How contentious are negotiations between John Elway and Von Miller? Well, apparently somewhere between cropping the face of the franchise out of an Instagram post and ignoring one another in social situations, because the two did not do the latter on Sunday night.

During the Denver Broncos ring ceremony — which was a closed event for players, coaches and their families — Elway pulled his star pass rusher to the side and discussed what we can only assume to be his contract status, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

Klis reports that it was Elway who initiated the conversation and that the exact details of their conversation are unknown, but it’s a positive sign nonetheless. After the Broncos self-imposed minicamp deadline for a deal came and went, many began to worry whether the team-player relationship was due for a turn for the worse — Von’s Instagram stunt didn’t help.

This conversation, while full of question marks, would lead us to believe otherwise.

And while Miller was one of the few players at the event that technically is not under contract (with the Broncos or any other team), he was the main topic of conversation. Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe even took a collections plate around the event to ask for donations for Miller’s contract.

We’re just about a month away from the real, league-imposed deadline for long-term contracts, so there’s still time. The sooner the better, though.
