The Rockies could laugh at pitcher Eddie Butler’s baserunning blunders on Friday night, but only well after the team had secured a win. In his first-ever time on base, Butler managed to stumble, not once, but twice, trying to score from second base after a double to the right-field corner by DJ LeMahieu in the bottom of the fifth.

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies

The Rockies eventually went on to win the game, despite a blown save by John Axford – his second of the week to go along with a loss – so Butler’s blunder could be (somewhat) forgiven.

Players had their fun with the pitcher on Saturday, though, as they got to the park early and did some “redecorating” of the infield to commemorate Butler’s unfortunate trip (pardon the pun) around the basepaths.

There was less to laugh about once game time rolled around Saturday. The Rockies lost 5-2 to the Reds. Only the Marlins and Phillies have worse records than Colorado this year.
