The Colorado Rockies fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 Thursday night, showing that this team does indeed have flaws, despite their success since returning from the All-Star break.

The Rockies did not play a bad game, rather, they were outplayed by a Dodgers team that is leading the NL Wild Card race.

Nevertheless, the Rockies won the series against division rivals, and that is what matters most.

The Rockies were shorthanded with Carlos Gonzalez on the bench due to injury and Daniel Descalso departing the game in the fourth inning with a left shoulder contusion.

Injuries are becoming a growing factor for manager Walt Weiss.

“We are a little nicked up right now,” Weiss said postgame. “We are not really in a position to take on any more [injuries].”

Overall, it was just a bad night for a Rockies offense that is ranked the second-best in baseball.

Starter Tyler Chatwood also was not at his best either on Thursday.

“Those two pitches cost us the game,” Chatwood said in reference to the two change-ups he throw that resulted in three Dodger runs. “I think that’s what cost us the game.”

The Rox need to forget the loss quickly as the biggest series of the season to date begins Friday. The team welcomes in the visiting Miami Marlins, who hold a three-game lead over Colorado in the Wild Card.
