Just hours before their game against the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field, it appeared that some of the Oregon Ducks might not make it on the field.

It wasn’t because of the high altitude in Boulder or inclement weather (that would come later). Several members of the Ducks team were stuck in an elevator.

The Ducks were eventually freed, but the game still didn’t start on time. Lightning in the Boulder area stalled kickoff for more than an hour.

It was so wet, in fact, that the Buffs were unable to run Ralphie.

Once the game was finally underway, Colorado was a bit shaky. The Buffs opened their first two possessions with turnovers – a fumble and an interception. Oregon capitalized on the fumble and took a 7-0 lead.

Colorado battled, however, and bounced back to take 14-7 lead.

Oregon would answer with a bomb of their own, however, to tie the game at 14 on a trick play.

The two teams entered the locker-rooms tied at 17 at the half.

But things turned heavily in the Ducks’ favor in the third quarter as they scored 14 unanswered points, capitalizing on a CU three-and-out to open the half and then another Buffs fumble.

Colorado brought it back within seven, but Oregon immediately responded when third-string quarterback Taylor Alie threw his first career touchdown that proved to be the back-breaker for the Buffs.

The Ducks would tack on a field goal and Sefu Liafu was sacked on the Buffs’ final play of the game. Final score 41-24.
