Things couldn’t have gone worse for the Colorado Avalanche during the third period of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After building a 2-1 lead heading into the final period, the Avs looked to expand on their lead during a 5-on-3 power play in the early minutes of the third; the Penguins stood strong, though, and proceeded to drop three goals on the Avalanche in the span of 3:24.

The loss dropped the Avs to 12-16-1 on the season, good enough for 13th in the Western Conference and placing them eight points out of the playoffs. The Avs clearly have work to do if they want any shot at the postseason; unfortunately, they’re starting to run out of time.

If you’re looking for a positive, though, at least we got to see Reto Berra go full beast mode on Sergei Plotnikov behind the net.

And I just love how he just skates back in front of his net, takes a sip from his water bottle and lets his team deal with the backlash.

If Berra can keep doing things like that, at least we’ll know that the rest of the season will be entertaining.
