If there’s any truth to the old saying, “You play like you practice,” we might be seeing a new NFL field goal record set some time this season.

In Friday’s training camp practice, Broncos kicker Brandon McManus nailed a 73-yard field goal. The fourth-year kicker posted the video proof to Twitter himself.

The record for the longest field goal in an NFL game already lives in Denver, when former Bronco Matt Prater knocked one through the uprights from 64 yards out in December 2013. That broke a four-way tie at 63 yards, which included another former Bronco, Jason Elam.

Will first-year head coach Vance Joseph ever let McManus try such a lengthy kick in a game?

“Of course,” Joseph said in his post-practice media availability. “Whatever wins games, we’re going to go for it.”
