2017 Accomplishments: At a state tournament dominated by Fairview, Holmes found himself down after the first set of the No. 1 singles final. He flipped a switch and played out of his mind to claim gold.
What’s in store in 2018: Holmes comes into 2018 with a target on his back. But ever the competitor, he’ll relish the chance to win a second-straight title.
How winning a state title in 2017 prepared him for his senior year: “Right after I won, I sat in the wind for a minute and used it to start getting better. I think for a little bit I was on an all-time high, but since then it’s made work harder.”
