Only one team in the country, Auburn, can say it defeated both the participants in this year’s College Football Playoff National Championship, Alabama and Georgia.

The Tigers dropped the Bulldogs, 40-17, in mid-November and then the Crimson Tide, 26-14, two days after Thanksgiving, but regular-season losses to Clemson and LSU and a loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship had Auburn on the outside looking in for the playoff.

Auburn assistant coach and Arvada High School grad Greg Brown was back in the Mile High City following his team’s Peach Bowl loss to Central Florida and joined his father, Denver radio legend Irv Brown, on The Joe Williams Show with Kent Erickson to preview the national championship game.

Brown, who also coached at Alabama, expects a close game, but sees a slight edge to the Crimson Tide simply because they’ve been on that stage so many times before.
