After missing the second of a two-game series against the Arizona Coyotes on consecutive nights, defenseman Cale Makar will miss the next two Avalanche games as well.

Avs coach Jared Bednar confirmed at the conclusion of Colorado’s 6-2 drubbing of the Coyotes on Saturday that Makar, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, will miss both games against the Sharks in San Jose.

Makar, 22, missed two games earlier in the season because of an injury and will be re-evaluated when the Avalanche return home after their two games in San Jose.

The 2020 Calder Trophy winner has scored one goal and 14 points in 15 games this season. He leads the Avs in ice-time, playing 24:28 per-game.

Makar is also tied for the team lead in both power-play points (seven) and plus-minus (plus-6).
