Avalanche vs. Stars Odds

Here’s a look at the Avalanche vs. Opponent odds for today’s tonight’s game, courtesy of FOX Bet.

  • Moneyline:  Avalanche (-154)/Stars (+130)
  • Total:  Over 5.5 (+100)/Under 5.5 (-120)

Clearly the odds makers still believe the Avalanche are the better team. What’s interesting is to see the expectation of a lower-scoring game than what we saw in Game 1. In the five meetings between the two teams before this playoff round, the total never cracked 5.5. But, in Game 1 a total of 8 goals were scored. With -120 set to the Under, it looks like it is expected to be a defensive battle.

Avalanche vs. Stars Betting Preview

Starting goaltender Phillip Grubauer is out for Game 2 and Avalanche coach Jared Bednar has not given any indication as to when Grubauer will return. In Game 1, he appears to injure his left leg making a save and had to be helped off the ice. Pavel Francouz will start between the pipes. Defenseman Erik Johnson is also doubtful for tonight with the Avalanche. Forward Matt Calvert is considered day-to-day. Dallas has also been without its starting goaltender, Ben Bishop, for much of the postseason. Like Grubauer, there is not indication as to when Bishop could return.

Avalanche vs Stars Predictions

Let’s take a look at some Avalanche vs. Stars predictions.

Gabriel Landeskog to score 2+ points (+320 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tonight at DraftKings you can snag the Captain to record two or more points at +320. We like this play because Landeskog finally tallied his first goal in the Edmonton bubble on Saturday night, but he has been an assist machine. If Saturday’s momentum can carry forward to tonight, Landeskog could pay dividends at that strong +320.

Tyler Seguin to score a goal (+260 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Much like Gabriel Landeskog, Tyler Seguin finally broke through on Saturday night for Dallas. Seguin’s goal was his first in 13 games and he also grabbed an assist. With a good potential payout, we believe Seguin could break through again.

Avalanche vs Stars Pick

Dallas struggled prior to the COVID-19 pause to the season, but have suddenly exploded in Edmonton with strong scoring from its veterans. But in its first round series, Colorado bounced back in a big way after losing to Arizona. We believe the Avalanche will bounce back again. Not having Grubauer between the pipes hurts, but Francouz has been solid throughout the season and should be able to slow down (maybe not stop) Dallas’ attack. The bigger question will be how the Avs respond to not having Johnson on the blue line. If Cale Makar can continue his stellar play, the Avs should even up the series tonight.

Avalanche vs. Stars Pick: Avalanche -150 over Stars
