The Colorado Avalanche head out to the Twin Cities to open up a two-game set against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday evening.

Let’s take a look at this a Western Division clash from a betting perspective in our Avalanche vs. Wild Betting preview with odds, picks and predictions.

Avalanche vs. Wild Betting Pick

The Colorado Avalanche take on a familiar foe in the Minnesota Wild, with both clubs normally in the Central Division under the regular alignment. The Avalanche come in red-hot, having won three of their last four contests, including a solid two-game sweep of San Jose, outscoring the Sharks 10-3 in the process.

The Wild are off an impressive 5-3 home win against the Kings. We saw fireworks early with a fight just three seconds into the contest, and the Wild will be without top forward Kevin Fiala for three games after an unfortunate check to the back of Kings forward Matt Roy.

Fiala was accessed a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct, which allowed LA to score on the ensuing power-play. Jonas Brodin picked up two assists and goals by Nick Bjugstad and Joel Eriksson-Ek wrapped up things for Minnesota to earn the home victory.

Avalanche First Period Puck-Line (-0.5 Goals +120, BetMGM)

Colorado has covered the first period puck-line in four of their last five games, with three goals scored late in the opening frame on Tuesday. The Sharks give up tons of high-danger chances, and I like for the Avalanche to score early and often again this evening.

Joel Eriksson-Ek to Score a Goal Anytime (+320 DraftKings)

The 24-year old Swedish native who celebrated his birthday on Friday has been red-hot for the Wild with five goals and two assists through eight games. Known more for his defensive play over five seasons in the league, he’s been logging some solid minutes on the power play so far this season. Eriksson-Ek only has two assists to his credit in 13 career meetings against Colorado, but I like for him to continue his scoring streak in this matchup.

Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome

First Period OVER 1.5 Goals (-115, BetMGM)

The Minnesota Wild have been playing with high energy early and often this season, with a 5-3 mark to the first period over after eight games. They take on a Colorado squad that is also used to scoring early, but had previously faced slow squads like Anaheim and St. Louis, so their mark of 3-5 to the over is a bit skewed.

Look for both clubs to score early and cash this total.

Avalanche vs. Wild Prediction

Colorado is a talented squad, but the Minnesota Wild have really been a surprise team thus far. Coach Dean Evason has this club playing with a lot of heart and determination. I like the home side to get the win 4-3.
