The Colorado Avalanche announced Wednesday that the team will open the 2015-16 season with a home game against the Minnesota Wild.

The two clubs met last year in a home-and-home set to open the 2014-15 season. The Wild finished in 4th place in the Western Conference’s Central Division, eventually losing to the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks in the conference semifinals.

The last team to meet the Avalanche in back-to-back openers was the Dallas Stars in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

Minnesota eliminated Colorado from the first round of the playoffs in the 2013-14 season.

The full 2015-16 schedule is expected to be released on Thursday by the NHL.
