Maybe one of the most interesting thing our brains can do is immediately transport us to the future or into the past.
But with that amazing ability comes the forgetfulness of how important it is to live in the now. The present.

And for football fans, there’s a weird paradigm of always jumping into the future — a worry about overlooking the Jets was floating around the twitterverse today — or looking to the past.

Your Denver Broncos are currently 3-0 and you should be enjoying every moment of it, baby! Yes, the Broncos have beaten two terrible teams from New York and the awful Jaguars from Fred Durst’s home town, but they’ve thoroughly out-played their opponents in almost every way.
And we all know there are no easy wins in the NFL. Hey, those guys on those teams are getting paid, too. And those guys know how quickly momentum can be gained and wins rattled off.
Which is where Denver finds themselves tonight, floating a mile high and on a perfect 3-0 record. With the Baltimore Ravens — who came back in dramatic fashion today to beat Detroit — coming to town next Sunday, the Broncos will need their best game of the year in order to stay undefeated.
In this present moment, the Broncos are 3-0, which is great considering they are the first three wins in September during the Vic Fangio era. And while that’s all fun and good, the team has been far from perfect.
Special teams have been the biggest glaring weakness, which comes as little surprise. They’ve been awful at covering kicks and punts for years, and gave up that 102-yard kickoff return to the Jaguars last week.
Outside of that, the defense has been superb for the most part, and Teddy Bridgewater has helped propel the offense to a level we’ve not seen since Peyton Manning was here. Just like Von Miller said in Week 1.
Bridgewater and the offense have been a vast improvement over last year, averaging 387 yards per game and they have only two turnovers this year. Add that in with their explosive toxic differential — which is now +10 on the season and +6 on the game today — and the Broncos offense is much more explosive than last year, too.
Of course, Bridgewater is the main catalyst of that. He’s been simply one of the top-5 quarterbacks in the NFL this season, and has yet to turn the ball over a single time. He’s been extremely efficient, and at times electrifying, while showing a true prowess as a quarterback.
He’s been wildly accurate (76 percent), which has helped receivers and his QBR (78.0) has Bridgewater as the second-best quarterback in the NFL this year.
Defensively, the Broncos are living up to their billing as a top-5 group. In fact, they’re No. 1 in points allowed at a mere 8.7 per game after their 26-0 shutout today.
They’re also second-best in terms of yards per game (222) and their five takeaways are tied for third-most.
Von Miller is definitely back, racking up 3.0 sacks this season already, and the secondary has been sensational, too. The only worry with that group is their growing list of injured players.
Already there’s cornerback Ronald Darby, Bradley Chubb, Josey Jewell and Mike Purcell who have missed time this year. And while the defense escaped injury, both Jerry Jeudy and now KJ Hamler are hurt at receiver.
Still, the Broncos have trudged on and won three straight games. They’re actually tied atop the AFC West (how long has that been?) and the Chiefs are in sole possession of last in the division at 1-2.
It’s early, but enjoy this for now, Broncos Country.
