This weekend, at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colo., the elite secondary of the Denver Broncos hosted the No Fly Zone Skills Camp.

In the Broncos secondary, a lot of attention is given to cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Chris Harris Jr. However, that secondary also boasts Pro Bowl safeties T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart, both of whom caught up with Joe Rico and Alex Ramirez from The Final Word on Mile High Sports Radio while at the camp.

It’s a great turnout,” Stewart said. “A lot of kids ready to work.”

In total, 125 youngsters, ranging from grades 1-12, were in attendance. Neither Ward or Stewart attended an event like this growing up, though both thought it would have been beneficial.

“Unfortunately, I was not able to participate in a camp like this,” Ward said. “That’s why I continue to do this through my summers and in my off times, so I can give kids opportunities that I didn’t have.”

Stewart echoed the sentiment, saying “If I was 13 or 14, I would be at this camp. I loved football at that age and I was raw. I needed the technique aspect. If you’re that age, you should be here.”

The No Fly Zone Skills Camp afforded youngsters a unique opportunity; one to learn from not just one, two or three, but four elite NFL defensive backs.

“You’re going to get some lessons, some techniques that you’re not going to get anywhere else. You’re not going to get [them] from coaches, you’re not going to get [them] from TV, YouTube, anywhere,” Ward said. “You’re here with three All-Pros that play for the same team. You’re lucky to get one All-Pro that throws a camp like I do every year; but to have three All-Pros on the same team, in the same community, it’s a beautiful thing. It’s a blessing. That’s what we want to give to these kids in this community.”
