Chris Harris’ season is officially over today, due to a broken fibula and the Denver Broncos being guaranteed to miss the playoffs.

Harris, who broke the lower leg bone in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals, was hopeful he could return if the Broncos were to make a playoff run. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to fruition, as they were eliminated with the loss to the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.

The Broncos were burned on the final touchdown drive of the day by the Browns when they had to play with five safeties in place of injured corners, including Jamar Taylor, who was tossed for punching a Cleveland receiver mid-game.

So, Denver went out and signed four-year veteran Craig Mager, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, to the roster. Mager has played in 24 games over the course of his career, including 10 starts. He’s totaled 39 tackles, six passes defended, one interception and one fumble recovery over the course of his career. Most of his playing time came in 2015 and 2016, though, as Mager was on the Chargers practice squad in 2017 and played in only one game for the AFC West rivals in 2018.

Mager joins Taylor as mid-season additions to the lineup due to injuries, and both of them will be needed to contribute over the next few weeks.

Denver (6-8) now has two games left on their schedule before the 2018 season comes to an end. The Broncos are in Oakland to face the Raiders on Christmas Eve (6:15 p.m. MT kickoff) and then finish the year against the Chargers at home, on Sunday, Dec. 30.
