Fans here in Colorado have reason to cheer for the newly crowned Miss Oklahoma, Georgia Frazier. She’s the daughter of Root Sports Rocky Mountain analyst George Frazier.

George Frazier is a very recognizable name when it comes to the Rockies. The former RHP is in his 19th season as an analyst for the Rockies. According to, he is a seasoned journalist and has provided commentary for Home Sports Entertainment, the Baseball Network, ESPN and Minnesota Twins regional game telecasts, in addition to his work for Root Sports.

George pitched for 10 season between 1978-1987 for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs and  Minnesota Twins.

Over the weekend, Georgia competed in the Miss Oklahoma pageant representing Ada, Okla., as reported on Her dreams came true Saturday night when she won the title of Miss Oklahoma. She will now head to Atlantic City, N.J. where she will compete in the Miss America pageant.

However, her path wasn’t the fairy tale story that anyone would wish for. The road to becoming Miss Oklahoma was a path stricken with cancer. She tells her story on her website,, about when she was diagnosed in 2012 with the early stages Cervical Cancer .

“The weeks and months that followed were the most frightening months of my life. After numerous surgical procedures, I was told that if my cancer had not been detected during a scan of my gallbladder, I would not have lived to see my 21st birthday,” said Georgia.

Georgia is now cancer-free and has founded the organization Warriors for Women. Her goal is to “amplify the voices of women and to empower them to be warriors for their own health.”

No doubt, all eyes in Oklahoma, and many in Colorado, will be on Georgia as she competes for the title of Miss America in September.
