Colorado State Rams men’s basketball coach Larry Eustachy has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation into his behavior with players, according to a statement from Director of Athletics Joe Parker on Saturday.
“I have asked head coach Larry Eustachy to temporarily step away from the men’s basketball program, as he has been placed on administrative leave while we conclude our climate assessment,” Parker said in a statement. “We are diligently working through this assessment as expeditiously as possible, understanding the importance of a thorough and fair process. No conclusions have been made. Associate head coach Steve Barnes has agreed to assume head coaching responsibilities for [Saturday night’s] game against Nevada, and until the assessment is complete.”
Eustachy, who was also investigated by the university during the 2013-14 season, admitted at that time that he went “way over the line” with regard to his behavior toward his players, and was required to take anger management courses. Eustachy was warned that there would be no tolerance of similar behavior in the future.
