Demaryius Thomas didn’t have a perfect game on Sunday, but he proved he’s bouncing back both physically and mentally.

Until 2:25 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Broncos Country was wondering whether or not Thomas would be healthy enough to make an impact in a Week 2 matchup with Indianapolis. Three hours later, Thomas was lunging for a crucial first down on a third-and-11 in the fourth quarter with his team leading by a slim three-point margin. Another 10 minutes later he was catching a two-point conversion to put the game all but out of reach for the Broncos.

Thomas suffered a labrum injury during Denver’s opening week win against Carolina and was hobbled in practice throughout the week. By the time the Broncos walked off the field with a 34-20 victory, however, Thomas was all smiles and posted a very healthy day at the office.

Denver distributed the wealth in their 266 yards passing, completing passes to 10 different players. Thomas earned the lion’s share of that with 90 yards on five catches. He opened his day with a 44-yard romp that had the Denver offense moving early. On the second drive, Thomas took his first touch of the day into Colts’ territory.

His biggest play of the game, without a doubt, was the first-down conversion late in the game. Thomas caught Trevor Siemian’s pass with roughly three-and-a-half yards to go before the first down and two Colts defenders between a first down and a punt. Thomas went through the middle and clawed his way, literally with an arm on the ground to keep from being tackled, to stretch for the first down. Denver would go on to kick a field goal and extend their lead to six points at the time.

Thomas was wide open on a two-point conversion following a Von Miller strip sack that Shane Ray recovered for a touchdown.

The new No. 3 all-time receptions leader in Broncos history did have one big gaffe on the day. He dropped a wide open potential touchdown pass in the first quarter after beating his man off the line on a third down and three. Thomas showed great resilience though to bounce back and make the catch that pushed him past Ed McCaffrey on the team’s all-time list, not to mention the key first down.

As always, the MHS team was plugged in during the action on Sunday, offering their insight and observations about the game. Here’s what the team from Mile High Sports, with some assists from our favorite follows on social media had to say about DT’s performance.
