Domata Peko has been a shining light for the Denver Broncos’ defense this year — a defense that drastically improved their statistics in run defense from 2016 to 2017.

What was once the 28th ranked run defense in 2016 now goes into Week 17 in theird place. A staggering improvement from nearly the worst to almost the first — and Peko’s fingerprints are all over it.

In an interview with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Peko said he is proud of the season he and the defense have put together this year and says that they won’t rest this week, either. “We still have goals that we want to accomplish defensively,” Peko said. “We have a lot of pride in our room, we’re definitely not going to lay down.”

“For us to be able to be in the top five — right now, number two — and trying to get to number one defense overall, with a horrible record? That shows the toughness we have in our group; the type of players we have in this defense. We take a lot of pride in this room, so we’re definitely going to go out there and give our best effort; try to get a [win] and finish strong.”
