Football is back and everyone couldn’t be more thrilled (well, almost everyone).

There are games at all levels that matter this weekend. From high school, to area colleges to the pros a lot of big contests are on the slate. But not all games are created equal. Some will have more interest from more people simply because of the stakes.

With that in mind here are four games that matter most this weekend in the Colorado sports scene.

No. 4 — CSU vs. Minnesota 1:30 p.m. (Saturday)

CSU blasted Savannah State last weekend 65-13 but Minnesota will undoubtedly provide a better test. The Golden Gophers lost to No. 2 TCU by just six points last weekend. The Rams are actually five point underdogs at home.

No. 3 — Air Force vs. San Jose State 8:15 p.m. (Saturday)

The Falcons weren’t challenged last week by Morgan State, cruising to a 63-7 win in their season opener. Now they’ll welcome in San Jose State who should provide a much tougher challenge on a night that should be fun all around.

No. 2 — Colorado vs. UMass 12:00 p.m. (Saturday)

CU got off to a very disappointing start with a tough 28-20 loss in Hawaii to kick of their 2015 campaign. In comes UMass, who, frankly, isn’t very good. The Buffs are two touchdown favorites and have to take care of business.

No. 1 — Denver Broncos vs. Baltimore Ravens 2:25 p.m. (Sunday)

Thank goodness. Real, live NFL football that counts is finally here. Talk all you want about the Super Bowl, this scribe still says Baltimore was the most heartbreaking loss of the Peyton Manning era. There’s no such thing as too much revenge.
