On an ever-evolving offensive line, the Denver Broncos can’t afford any injuries.

Especially at left tackle, arguably the most important position on the O-line. But, that’s what happened Monday morning during the Broncos third training camp practice of the year; starting left tackle Garett Bolles went down hard during red zone drills and then called for the cart:

Bolles then walked off the field under his own power, but with his head down per reporters who are at Dove Valley this morning.

For Denver, the sophomore Bolles is extremely important, as is his development at left tackle. Bolles — who was taken No. 20 overall in 2017 — went through the ups-and-downs of a rookie season last year. At times, he was solid, and others, he lacked fundamentals while allowing 8.5 sacks.

This is the year Broncos fans — and the front office — have to hope Bolles comes into his own as a cornerstone of the offensive line. Which is why they also have to be hoping this injury isn’t serious.

Bolles is slated to start at left tackle, with Ronald Leary at left guard, Matt Paradis at center, while right guard is up in the air and right tackle should be Jared Veldheer. But, if Bolles is seriously injured and must miss time, Veldheer is the logical choice at left tackle, and Menelik Watson would likely play right tackle.

Stay tuned to see if head coach Vance Joseph touches on the injury once the Broncos’ practice is over this morning.
