CU’s own Chidobe Awuzie has been selected 60th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2017 NFL Draft. He’ll have a homecoming of sorts in Week 2 of the NFL season when the Cowboys visit the Denver Broncos.

Awuzie was consistently one of the best defenders for the Buffaloes over the last  four years. He made an impact his first year on campus in Boulder, playing in 12 games as a freshman. After suffering a kidney laceration in his sophomore season, he bounced back and was named a second-team all-conference player for both his junior and senior seasons.

He amassed 265 total tackles in his collegiate career and sacked the quarterback nine times from the cornerback position. He also intercepted three balls, forced six fumbles and defended 25 passes for the Buffs.

Awuzie at No. 60 is the highest selection of a Buff since the Seattle Seahawks selected wide receiver Paul Richardson 45th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.
