It’s clear Brock Osweiler wasn’t happy about his Week 17 benching, and based on his free agency decision, he hasn’t let it go.

In a discussion with Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post, Elway was asked about Osweiler’s reaction, and, in normal Elway fashion, he was brutally honest.

“I haven’t talked to Brock about it,” Elway said. “I’ve only kind of heard about it, of why he may have been a little bit upset about the way things went. I can understand that he didn’t want to sit down and have Peyton come back in that San Diego game, but it wasn’t the fact that Brock was playing bad.

“We needed a change of something. So I was a little surprised just how he seemed to be a little bent out of shape about that. But he had an opportunity to make a tremendous amount of money in Houston, and for us, it just didn’t fit.”

When asked about Elway’s comments at Texans training camp, Osweiler spoke on the subject for the first time.

“The only thing I would say is what kind of competitor wouldn’t want to play in that situation?” Osweiler said, via the Houston Chronicle. “Outside of that, I think I’ve answered all of those questions. We’re now in August, we just had a great training camp practice and I’m excited to play the 49ers coming up.”

While both sides have a right to be frustrated, at the end of the day the Broncos did reinsert Peyton Manning and the Broncos did win the Super Bowl.
