CSU head football coach Mike Bobo is confident in his team for next season, and believes he has the right players to improve despite the season’s challenging schedule.

In an interview with Kent Erickson on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Bobo talked about key players, the new changes that have been made this spring, and that are coming in the fall season.

“No, there’s been challenges in all seasons, and there’s been times that you’ve been thin at certain positions, and then there’s been times where you had changed coaching staff, and you’re implementing new schemes, but we had a little bit of both. We’ve got change on the whole defensive side, so new terminology, new scheme,” Bobo said. “Offensively, we’ve got a new offensive coordinator, a new line coach, and then we graduated 26 seniors, and then have 12 guys out with injuries — so you’ve got a lot of change and a lot of guys that are out for spring practice, so we’re a little bit thin, but I’ve really been proud of the guys that have been practicing.”

The Rams are preparing for a challenging fall schedule, but Bobo is confident that with hard work, his team has the potential to come out on top.

“No, it’s a challenging schedule, and you know — I took this job because I believe Colorado State can be one of the best institutions in the United States, and I think you get that way by you know playing the best. We obviously play in a great conference in the Mountain West, [there are] some premier teams in our conference, and we’re still trying to get to that championship game and win this conference, but outside our conference we want to challenge ourselves too, and play top ‘Power 5’ schools,” Bobo said.
